Les Szekely

Non Executive Chairman

Les worked as a solicitor before teaching commercial and revenue law at the University of New South Wales, and Sydney University. He was a tax consulting partner with Horwaths Chartered Accountants for 20 years, until the company merged with Deloitte, when he became Director of Taxation in Deloitte Growth Solutions. He holds B.A/LL.B (UNSW) and LL.M. (SydU) degrees and has authored numerous books and articles on taxation law. Since leaving Deloitte in 2008, Les has dedicated his time to angel Venture Capital (VC) investing. He is Chairman of the Investment Committee for the Microequities VC Fund and sits on the Boards of several companies. His focus is the development of business strategy in sectors undergoing digital disruption.

Dr. Alex Abrahams

Independent Non-Executive Director

Dr Abrahams is the founder of the ASX listed Pacific Smiles Group (ASX: PSQ). Dr Abrahams is also a director of several other private healthcare businesses including Haemokinesis Ltd an innovative Immunohaematology business and Chair of Group Homes Australia Pty Limited. He and his family co-founded the Chair of Lifespan Oral Health at the University of Sydney. Dr Abrahams brings considerable business development expertise and commercial business acumen to the board. Dr Abrahams is a value investor, with long term horizons, focusing on innovative business models with strong owner/manager mentality. Focused on building intergenerational wealth and security and to be able to give back.

Carlos Gil

CEO & Chief Investment Officer

Carlos is the founder and current CEO of Microequities. He has worked in stockbroking, funds management, and investment research for over 20 years, and has been an individual investor in Australian Microcaps since he was 18 years old. Carlos has held various senior management positions in Europe, including roles as Head of International Securities at BM Securities, and at Banesto Bank (Santander Group). Carlos has been investing in Australian industrial Microcaps since he was a teenager. Upon his return to Australia he founded Microequities with a long-term vision of creating a value driven specialist Microcap and Smallcap Fund Manager. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Economics from Sydney University, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment Analysis from the Australian Securities Institute and a Master in Applied Finance and Investment Analysis from the Financial Services Institute of Australia. Carlos is a director of Smartpay Holdings Limited.

Sam Gutman

Executive Director & Company Secretary

Sam brings a wealth of invaluable pragmatic business experience to the management team, obtained through a successful career in the IT industry. Sam has been a long time personal investor in the Microcap asset class, and adamantly shares the investment philosophy of the Microequities team. Sam has B.A with major in economics and has a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance & Investments from FINSIA.

Shuo Yang

Portfolio Manager

Shuo is currently responsible for identifying and providing research coverage on undervalued microcap industrial companies. Since starting investing at the age of 16, he has developed a fundamental approach to his analysis of companies in the market and is always on the lookout for new investment ideas. Shuo holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Economics degree at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and is a CFA Level II holder.

Declan McLenaghan

Investment Analyst

Declan provides research coverage on listed Australian Microcap companies. He previously worked as an analyst at Millinium Capital Managers, where he performed fundamental research on companies in the ASX 200. He has also worked for MF Holdings and Atlantic Pacific Securities. Declan holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance) from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and is a CFA® charterholder.

Kenny Tam

Equity Analyst

Kenny worked as an analyst at Glennon Capital, where he provided fundamental analysis on ASX listed small cap companies. Kenny holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Accounting) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Master of Research (Finance) at Macquarie University. Kenny is currently a CFA Level III holder.

Andrew Ross

Portfolio Manager – Private Assets

Andrew is responsible for selecting and managing investments within the Microequities Private Assets team and is a member of the Microequities Private Assets Investment Committee. Andrew has a breadth of experience across strategy, operations and investment management. Andrew worked for Macquarie Group in Sydney and New York managing unlisted investment funds before transitioning into business as Group General Manager of Tyres4U, an industrial business with almost 500 employees across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Andrew ran the process to sell Tyres4U to a listed competitor in late 2020. Andrew is also a director of DingGo which operates a digital marketplace for vehicle smash repairs. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Actuarial Studies and Finance (First Class Honours) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and is currently undertaking a Master of Business Administration at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) at UNSW Business School.

Aidan Kelleher

Chief Relationship Manager

Aidan is responsible for managing and developing all new and existing relationships for Microequities across the private client, family office and financial planning spheres. His career has spanned almost three decades in the financial services industry both domestically and internationally. He has experience across all fields of asset management including retail. institutional and wholesale distribution, platform and investment research.

He has worked extensively with family offices and private wealth advisory firms in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Formerly the Head of Distribution for Regal Funds Management in Australia and New Zealand. Aidan has held senior positions with UBS Global Asset Management, Merrill Lynch and Rothschild Asset Management in Australia and Europe.

Adam Allcock

Client Relationship Manager

Adam has over 10 years experience in the financial services industry dealing with a range of stakeholders. Prior to Microequities, Adam helped establish distribution for a Perth based Australian equities fund. Before funds management, Adam was part of a team at Macquarie Bank for four years looking after relationships with financial advisers, family offices and accountants across a range of product lines. Adam holds a double degree in Psychology and History from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning.

Matt Brodie

Client Relationship Manager

Matt has over 13 years experience in the financial services industry and prior to joining Microequities, Matt held a variety of roles at CommSec within Investment Product Sales, Business Development and Investment Advice. Over this time, he has assisted and educated thousands of individuals, corporates and SMSF trustees of varying levels of wealth and experience with regard to their trading and investing in equities markets. Matt also has experience in philanthropy and worked within the not-for-profit sector. He holds RG 146, Margin Lending, ASX Accredited Derivates Adviser level 2 and FASEA exam accreditation and he holds a Bachelor of Business (Financial Services) from ACU and is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning and Master of Applied Finance.

Gareth McKay

Finance Director

Gareth has extensive experience as an account manager in the financial services industry, having worked for Citco Fund Services Australia in several positions for over 10 years. Before joining Microequities, he was responsible for a team providing outsourced fund accounting and tax services to a range of clients within the Asia Pacific region and across a broad spectrum of fund structures and trading strategies. Gareth holds a Masters of Business from Deakin University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Macquarie University Sydney.

Fransisca Yunita

Fund Accountant and Administration

Fransisca is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) from CPA Australia. She has over 10 years experience in the financial services industry, having worked for ING Australia, National Australia Bank and most recently The Trust Company, where she was a fund accountant. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

Rosalyn Hill

Fund Accountant and Administration

Rosalyn has over 10 years experience in the financial services industry, having worked for Westpac Bank in several positions. She worked as a Senior Fund Accountant at the Commonwealth Bank and IOOF Global One (formally Australian Skandia). More recently she worked at Suncorp Bank as a Unit Pricing Analyst. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics and Finance) from Western Sydney University.
